Applying WordPress updates for unsupported PHP versions
WordPress plugins usually (but not always) report the minimum version of PHP required for the plugin to operate properly.
Before applying plugin updates for WordPress, Watchful will compare the version of PHP installed on your server with the minimum version of PHP supported by the update.
If the web server has the required PHP version, or if the plugin does NOT specify a minimum PHP version, Watchful will apply the update.
In contrast, if the web server is NOT running the minimum required PHP version for the plugin, Watchful will NOT apply the update. In this case, we recommend that you use the ignore
feature in the Watchful updater, or upgrade your the PHP version on your web server.
Once the PHP version on your server has been update, you may use Watchful to apply the plugin updates.
